Who Arthur?
Who do you think was the historical Arthur? An English Christian King as they would have you believe?
You ask, who are 'they'?
'They' are (predominantly) the English, Christian, monarchists who have been in charge of things for... well, c. 1,000-1,500 years. I mean - Duh! What did you expect? It is not just gods that people make in their own image, it is legends and heroes too. Duh!
Just like the Holy Roman Empire, which was famously said not to be Holy, Roman or an Empire - the historical Arthur was not English, not a Christian and not a king.
You ask, why then did 'they' say he was? Because they were English, Christian monarchists - are you not keeping up with this?
The historical Arthur, Arthur Mac Aedan (c.559-596CE) was a Scots-British man of the old way of the druids and, as Nennius says of 'Arthur', not a king.
Prove it, you say? I have already done that in two books - you are really not keeping up, are you?
History has been re-written, or, at least, a bit of it has - the bit from c. 600CE.
